On Tuesday, 8 Nov 2011 a bunch of media journalists and bloggers were invited to attend Samsung Galaxy Note’s World Tour in Jakarta for their South East Asia leg. Yours truly was very lucky to be invited along – considering my teeny little enthusiast tech blog.
The event was held at 6.30pm at Ritz-Carlton Hotel Ballroom. Similar to the first leg of the Samsung Galaxy Note World Tour in London in late October last month.
The event was attended by media, bloggers, partners, etc from across the region.
The registration for all attendees are all branded with the Samsung Galaxy Note and you can sense the anticipation from the guests.
Obviously with the event being held in Jakarta, you would see half of the event covered by Indonesians, consisting of partners, medias, etc.
Malaysia has a good 5 tables. Woo-hoo!
Prior to the event starting, everyone mingled with some cocktails and light bites.
Here’s one of the Malaysian table.
All eyes on Samsung Galaxy Note
It feels very surreal walking into the ballroom with the massive backdrop with the Samsung Galaxy Note World Tour projected on the stage. I was tingling with excitement as it felt really privileged to be there for this exclusive event.
Samsung executives, including Gregory Lee, Samsung’s CEO Asia Pacific took the stage to introduce all to the Samsung Galaxy Note. The presentation soon went to go into details of the features and functionalities of the Galaxy Note.
They had a couple of creative guy on stage demonstrating the use of the S Pen for sketching, drawing and video editing, amongst other features.
Of course, they announced their series of accessories for the Samsung Galaxy Note. This includes docking station, exclusive stylus / S Pen and gorgeous cover cases. These will all be available for sale once the device hits the market.
It was all really fun to witness these undiscovered features on the review unit of Samsung Galaxy Note I had in my hands at that time. Hehe.
After the event, the guests had a chance to get some hands-on time with the device.
It was quite a frenzy of cameras and excited hands trying to get the Galaxy Note a try. It was evident that everyone was super impressed.
It was good to see the TV medias interviewing the Samsung executives. See the excitement on everyone’s face as the Galaxy Note is being demo-ed.
They even had caricature artist around the demo area doing sketches of you using the amazing sketching capability using the S Pen on the Galaxy Note. I was suitably impressed.
There was also a showcase display of the Samsung Galaxy Note accessories that they will be introducing to the market. The leather covers look really beautiful. The car docking station also looks awesome.
… and there’s Samsung Galaxy Nexus
Samsung also took the opportunity to showcase another hotly anticipated device – the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
Then, we all got our hands on the first Asian appearance of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
In case you don’t already know, Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the first device in the world to come with Android’s new 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” OS. This new OS is a combination of the best of previous Android “Gingerbread” OS 2.3 for smartphones and Android “Honeycomb” OS 3.2 for tablets.
Galaxy Nexus is confirmed to be available by the end of the 2011 calendar. Samsung executives have confirmed that the device will likely be an operator exclusive deal only. The aim is to have it available mid December 2011.
I can’t wait.
Samsung Galaxy Nexus sports a 4.65” HD Super AMOLED screen. This may sound humongous in spec sheets. When I held it in my hand, though…
As queen of all comparisons. I propped up the Samsung Galaxy devices side by side for size comparison.
(L-R) Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy S II and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
As you can see, because Samsung has made the bezel super slim and maximise the screen size all the way to the size of the device… it is actually only a hair bigger than the Samsung Galaxy S II.
How does it feel to hold the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in my hands – before it’s event available in the market?
