IKEA BookBook aka 2015 IKEA Catalogue (with Unboxing Video)

In case you don’t  follow me on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, and you missed the shared stories and links, IKEA just announced the latest breakthrough device, called the IKEA BookBook.

Me, along with a buch of other local tech bloggers have all been contacted by the PR team of IKEA to deliver this giant package, as the “selected fews beta testers”. According to IKEA Malaysia…

It is the first ‘touch interface’ ever invented. Content comes pre-installed, pages load instantaneously, with no lag. It’s always on and the battery life is eternal.

When I received my package, I was pleasantly surprised.

The IKEA BookBook is actually the 2015 IKEA Catalogue and it’s been presented to the media as the “latest technological breakthrough”, poking fun at Apple device launches.

Check out the intro video below.

Isn’t that absolutely hilarious?

To top if off, if you check out the official IKEA BookBook Malaysia microsite at www.ikea.com/ms/en_MY/campaigns/2015/catalogue/bookbook.html you’ll notice that it does indeed look like a website announcing a new tech gadget!

Unboxing the IKEA BookBook

Carrying on the quirky gimmick from the IKEA Malaysia launch of the 2015 IKEA Catalogue, I shot this quick “Unboxing” video of the IKEA BookBook for your viewing pleasure.

Enjoy!

If that’s still not enough, here are some pictures.

Pricing and Availability

2015 IKEA Catalogue

In case you’re itching to get your copy of the 2015 IKEA Catalogue, here’s the statement from IKEA Malaysia.

We distribute the IKEA Catalogue to most homes in Klang Valley, but if they live out of the area, they can drop by the store from 8 September to pick up a copy there.

And yes – the 2015 IKEA Catalogue can be picked up for FREE!!!!

Note : The consumer version of the 2015 IKEA Catalogue doesn’t come in this impressive box packaging, though. You’ll get your copy in a regular, weather-proof plastic wrapping.

Once again, I think this is a really cool Marketing for something as simple as an IKEA Catalogue launch. What do you think?
