It’s been awhile since I last attended a fashion show. Too long. So I was excited when I received the invite from ZALORA Malaysia for the Ready-To-Wear (RTW) showcase of local designers at 2013 Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week.
Happily, on Sunday 23 June 2013, I went there with my girlfriend, Joanne, to attend the last day of the showcase of KL Fashion Week 2013, featuring RTW collections from Carven Ong, Nurita Harith, Zakwan Anuar and Zeal by Max Mak.
The 2013 KLFW show this year showcases a lot of Malaysian local designers and their Ready-To-Wear lines. The shows were held from 19 – 23 June 2013 at Centre Court in Pavilion Shopping Mall in KL. Check out the full calendar here
Generally, a lot of the collections were “interesting”. For a RTW collection, some designs are beautiful that I would buy and wear. Some tends to border OTT and I wonder who the target audience were.
This piece (pictured above) was odd for me. A long all white dress with a long all white cape. Come on. Is the designer going for a ghostly look? Imagine wearing this at night and you’re alone and you need to hail a cab!
OK. I can be very critical, I know.
Nevertheless, I was happy to be invited to this fashion showcase. I’m happy to see how our local designers are doing so well innovating the local fashion scene and making great RTW pieces like these. I can imagine the hard work that went into producing a collection and the KLFW crew for putting on a 5-day showcase of this size! Well done, all.
I also got to meet some of the ZALORA Malaysia team, some industry friends and congratulate the designers.
I heard the last show in the closing of the 2013 KL Fashion Week showcase was amazing! Too bad I wasn’t invited to that show.
Any one of you caught any show in the week long KL Fashion Week 2013 this year? Let me know.
