Samsung has been launching devices left, right and centre these days. With no shortage of smartphones for all ages and price range for your consideration this holiday season, they’re announcing 2 Android smartphones today for the young, hip and trendy – the Samsung Galaxy W and Samsung Galaxy Y.

A part of the highly successful Samsung Galaxy range without breaking your bank, these 2 devices are entry level to mid range phones for those planning to jump to the smartphone bandwagon with the latest and best of Google’s Android OS.

Samsung Galaxy W

The Samsung Galaxy W (“W” stands for “Wonder”) which is a 2 tiers below their flagship S series. Don’t be fooled by this though, as the Galaxy W is dubbed “Designed for the fast and furious” comes with one helluva powerful 1.4GHz processor and has different Gaming and Social Hub on Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz UI. It runs’ on the latest Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 OS.

Here’s a quick specification of the Samsung Galaxy W:-

  • 3.7” WVGA(480×800) TFT LCD
  • 1.4GHz processor
  • Android OS 2.3 (Gingerbread)
  • 4GB Internal Memory + microSD(up to 32GB)

Samsung Galaxy Y

The Samsung Galaxy Y is aimed as an entry level smartphone for the young and hip. At 11.5mm thin, the device is also packed with the latest Android 2.3 OS and TouchWiz UI.

What’s cool is that this “social” device comes with Samsung’s own chat application called Ch@tON, which is a cross-platform IM like app. The phone comes with five back covers with five different colours – pearly white, dark black, fruity orange, bubblegum pink and silver platter.
