Peugeot 308 CC – my next car?

I don’t usually check car sites or follow up with the latest automobile news. But I was recently just browsing the web and decided to surf up some new cars that I can (possibly) consider for my next purchase. I came to Paul Tan’s blog and saw the launch of the new Peugeot car.

It’s the new Peugeot 308 CC. It’s a hard top convertible.

If you want to find out more about the technical specs of the car, please check out the Peugeot’s website. But here are a quick list of the basic specs:-

  • 1.6 litre engine
  • 6 speed automatic transmission
  • Hard top convertible roof that folds down in 20 seconds
  • Available in Malaysia in Pearl White Pearl White (with Integral Vintage leather interior) and Mocha Brown (with Luxury Grey Lama leather interior).
  • RM 186,888 OTR price

I usually leave the specs and safety and car engine stuff for my Hubby to look at, I will usually just decide on the exterior outlook of the car. So, just looking at the EXTERIOR – are you drooling like me, yet?

With the hard top roof up – I can still drive this car around to work and all. It looks just like a regular 2 door coupe.

With the top down, I can enjoy the fact that I’m in a convertible, enjoying a nice drive in scenic road trips or at night when I’m heading to the club. Awesome!

Thing is – a lot of Malaysians tend to think that owning a convertible in Malaysia is one of the stupidest thing you can do. “Eating dust”, they say, with all the big ass trucks and pollution. Obviously, I will only put the top down on certain occassions, and not all the time!

Although the car is on a higher price range than I wanted to spend, I really need to ask myself if I want to do it. Hubby already state that he will not help subsidize. I even posted a plea on my Facebook page for my 300+ “friends” to donate me RM 100 each. Just to help with the deposit. I have not seen a single cent. *hint*hint*

Drool over the pictures like I did. Then, tell me if it’s actually a car I should get. Also, your thoughts on convertibles in Malaysia.
