Restaurant Review : Marmalade, Plaza Mont Kiara

A friend of mine, Elayn is now 8 months preggers. Her sister organised a cozy baby shower on a Sunday at Marmalade in Plaza Mont Kiara.

I haven’t been to Plaza Mont Kiara for months now. It was nice to get back there again and I was also hoping that I might have a chance to check out the flea market that I remembered there.

Marmalade Cafe is situated on the Courtyard floor of Block E (also known as Wisma Sunrise) in Plaza Mont Kiara. It had a nice feel of a cozy cafe with bright coloured furniture and fittings. There’s also a section for kids play area – one of the plus points for this location for the baby shower. Some of the guests brought their kids along.

Because it was a Sunday afternoon, the place wasn’t too packed, but I assume it would be on normal weekdays. We started with just our table of 8 of us at the corner where the kids play area was. As the afternoon progresses, a few more tables starts to fill up with families and some business discussions.

The menu is a basic booklet type of their food and also states the addresses of their other branches in Klang Valley. They also have another branch at Bangsar Village.

We didn’t have to wait long for the food to arrive. It wasn’t noticable to me, at least as the girls were all getting into baby shower chit-chats on pregnancy, giving birth and parenting.

The food was good, not great. The party was too busy to appreciate the food. Generally everyone was happy.

Cute baby shower cupcakes

We brought our own cupcake for the party, so we didn’t get to sample Marmalade’s great collection of dessert or cakes. The cute baby clue and white cupcakes we had was too cute to eat.

They were in the shapes of baby wrapped in blue blanket, baby stroller, baby booties, baby bibs and baby blue teddy bears. Aren’t they just adorable?

It’s going to be a baby boy for Elayn, so future baby-mama had loads of pressies to open and posed with the cupcakes.

Although the cupcakes were too cute, I couldn’t resist picking the one with the baby wrapped in the blue blanket and take a shot of this…

It was a fun day with all the girls that Sunday. The boys had a separate daddy shower for Mike at the champagne lunch at Dish, Dua Residency. I heard it was good. The next time I get to experience that, I will definitely blog about it.

Back to Marmalade Cafe. Would I go back? Chances are… no. Why? It’s a bit out of the way for me, considering I live in town. The food wasn’t spectacular, although the ambiance is perfect for family with kids. I read that the Bangsar Village branch seem to be nicer. So, maybe I would check that out another time.
